it starts with being kind and helping each other |

Social responsibility starts with oneself and spreading the act. It means helping each other and knowing that the small little acts do add up and can lead to big results. Being socially responsible is about being accountable for our actions and being conscious of the impact your actions have on others and the community, and even the environment. You should always lead by example, and learn to take care of others so eventually one day others can take care of you.
Too often the trend in our society is for people to be separated from either other, to be cut off from the great mass of humanity. We are to break through those invisible barriers and connect with and accept one another as we are and try to be there for one another and really get along.
So take just a few minutes today, and do a kindness for another person. Being kind and doing good deeds without asking for anything in return is an important attitude to have. That is like giving a gift... and it actually is like a gift. It can be something small, or the start of something big. Meher Baba has observed. "A word that gives courage to a broken heart or a smile that brings hope in the midst of gloom is as much service as heroic sacrifice. A glance that wipes out bitterness from the heart is also service, although there may be no thought of service in it."
We all have moments sometimes when it'll feel like the whole world and everything is against us and nothing is working out the way you want it to. Sometimes a sincere word of encouragement and support from someone is all you need to hear, and to help keep you going and not lose hope. Having someone who believes in you and understands in a way what you are going through really helps lift some weight off your shoulders and helps lighten your situation. Even someone who is there to give you their attention and listen to you comes a long way... Every single one of us has a good work to do in life, so all of our work matters and counts.
Simple things you can do to be kind and help others:
1. Smile and be friendly. Sometimes a simple little thing like this can put a smile and warm feeling in someone else’s heart, and make their day a little better. They might then do the same for others.
2. Lend your ear. Often someone who is sad, depressed, angry, or frustrated just needs someone who will listen. Venting and talking through an issue is a huge help.
3. Give words of encouragement to someone about their dreams, no matter how big or small they are.
4. Show appreciation, publicly. Praising someone on a blog, in front of coworkers, in front of family, or in some other public way, is a great way to make them feel better about themselves.
5. Just be there. When someone you know is in need, sometimes it’s just good to be there. Sit with them. Talk. Help out if you can.
6. Be patient. Sometimes people can have difficulty understanding things, or learning to do something right. Learn to be patient with them. (when i teach, you need so much patience)
7. Pushing our limits. When working alone, it’s oftentimes too easy to give up when things get hard. By surrounding yourself with others working toward a similar goal or objective, you’ll get motivation, support, and friendly competition to push yourself just a bit further than you would have done on your own.
Even after all this time, the sun never says to the earth, “You owe me!” Look what happens with a love like that, it lights up the whole sky. -Hafez
