Aloha-Huber park
k-8 school
FACTS
Aloha-Huber Park is located in Aloha, Oregon and is part of the Beaverton School District. The school was established in 2005 and finished in 2006. AHP provides education service to children from Pre-Kindergarten to fifth grade and encourages students to participate in their middle school program. As I was informed and as I truly respect this school's layout as well as mission, AHP has an 85% poverty rate and provides supportive services to all students in need. As the school is truly diverse, there are at least 53 ethnicity and 29 languages being spoken where 60% of the students are still learning English as their second language. Despite being just an elementary school, Aloha Huber Park has been given four out of five (4/5) stars on our Oregon State Report Card, which was ranked above average. Go Cougars!
Opening introduction
Hello there! How are you doing? Quite a common question to ask someone and keep their lovely day going! By the way, I apologize for the late introduction! I was just extremely excited to share the true facts shared to me by the committed staffs of AHP and I still hold the excitement until this very day. Working with children has been a genuine passion of mine ever since I was little and I was known to be quite a caretaker when I was in middle-school. Growing up, I had to overcome various obstacles and one of the barriers was during second year of high school where I was informed that a younger niece of mine had shared about her living conditions at home to their grade-school counselors. In return, I consequently took the blame and lived through quite a few weeks to months of terror as I did not know what was going to become of me BECAUSE I took the initiative of protecting a child from harm. However, from that experience, I was encouraged to work with children since I was observed to have the courageous skills of protecting a child when I had such low experience in the field. I moved here to Oregon and after going through various experiences in life, I was able to confirm that working with children was a blessed skill to have. This Fall term 2018, I was introduced to Aloha-Huber Park as a potential site to help children further their knowledge in their beginning years of their studies and help students value themselves.

Intermediate Reflection
Thus far, every individual in the school works as a team to reach a certain goal in keeping students safe and making sure the students are benefitting the needs or resources that are available at AHP. As a fellow undergraduate student who is helping grade-school students achieve their academic as well as personal goals, I only hope that I am able to positively influence or inspire the individuals. I was reassured that my contributions to the school was greatly appreciated and I am so proud to be experiencing such nostalgic events each day with the teachers and students. To be given the opportunity to work with students and build a positive connection with them has been wonderful for me as an individual because as the students learn to grow, I also learn to accept that no matter how challenging a situation was or is, the sun will always shine behind the clouds, be it grey or blue.

Finale Reflection
Currently, I am still grateful and proud to have been or be part of Aloha-Huber Park as an individual who is still learning from my seniors. To have been a part of such a diverse school environment made me realize that everyone in the school should feel loved and feel welcomed, as well as feel safe. I still need to learn from my peers and be a proper role model to the students who I wish to succeed as a professional individual in the future. Being part of AHP has certainly made me realize that time has really changed and years are going by faster than we all expected. By the time I knew it, November was over and it was already December. The New Year is coming up and we can only expect more memories in 2019. In any case, I can only hope that my presence with the children was able to let them know that someone else also cares and loves them for who they are as a developing individual with super, SUPER great potential.
Have a great day everyone and remember, You are a STAR so keep shining!
