Go into all the world
About:Ministry literally means "the service." It is a vocation that men give their lives to the service of others. I believe first and foremost that any true lasting change must start with an individual's heart and soul. Until we are able to treat those two things anything else we do is simply a short term fix for an eternal problem. What is central to all service then is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
My work involves preaching and teaching among non-denominational, non-institutional congregation of believers in Christ. We pattern ourselves on scripture, striving to be the church that God established - the same church you can find in the New Testament. Simply put, I work with people who just want to be Christians like what you read about in the New Testament. People who wear no name but Christ and have to head but Christ. I cannot imagine myself doing anything else but this. I get to meet people from every possible background and I am always amazed at the personal stories I get to hear. I consider it humbling to be able to get to work with so many people who are committing to the plain teaching of Jesus. Who simply want to Love God and Love their neighbor (Mark 12:30-31). |
My Work
|
Looking backDuring my two and half years preaching in the Portland Metro area I have come across and met with a wide range of people. Each unique and each created in the image of the Creator. During this time it really sunk into me that every person I come across has a story, has their own cares and worries, and has a soul that is just like mine. This fact reminds me every day that I am under obligation to all people to spread the gospel (Romans 1:14-17).
Also, during my time over the last two years I have been challenged in more ways than one. Because of this I believe that I have grown not only in my teaching ability but also as a person, as a brother, and as a servant. |
Moving Forward
I will be moving to Arizona in September to begin working with a congregation in Tucson. My hope and aim is to bring the lessons that I have learned over the last few years with me and build upon them. To continue to grow in appreciation for the great work that I get to be a part of. To continue to grow in relationships. And to continue to grow as a Christian. I firmly believe that when individuals grow they help others around them grow as well and it is this kind of growth that I would love to see happen in the coming years.
