The Lent School Beautification Project for Comcast Cares Day
The Highlight project during the quarter was the beautification project for the Oliver P. Lent School (K-8).
This school serves a diverse student body with over half of students qualified for free and reduced priced meals.
The project included paining playground lines (both basketball court lines and foursquare courts), laying down new mulch around the school, landscaping, cleaning windows, sweeping rocks away from the play area, and renovating the teachers lounge

About 400 volunteers made this
transformation happen with just a few hours of collaborative effort.

GOALS
-My goals for this quarter were to help foster a stronger sense of the COMMUNITY that we live in.
Hands on Greater Portland gave me the opportunity to volunteer my time with flexibility. This gave me the opportunity to help out as much as possible with a busy schedule. -Another goal of mine this quarter was to establish a routine of helping out in the community that would leave a lasting drive to continue to help out others throughout my life going forward. |
In addition to volunteering my time, I am also volunteering my photography skills to improve Hands on Greater Portland's online visual content. During this quarter I volunteered my time to capture photos of volunteer leads who orchestrate giving tasks to volunteers on-site.

Greg, Volunteer lead for Urban Farming at The Albina Co-op Garden & Farm
I am grateful for the opportunity to connect with a diverse group of people in the community. I had the chance and opportunity to explore issues that shape our community and develop my leadership and job skills through my time with Hands On Greater Portland.
