Plan of Action
By working with this organization, I was able to be learn more about diversity and practicing equity. We as a community want people in Washington County to be able to get assistance to fulfill their basic needs such as food, daily hygiene, housing, etc. We like to help as many people as possible and able to reduce the number of food insecurity in the community. I noticed that it is important to recognize diversity (race, social status, background, sex, etc.) and to be able to accept one another and help one another. It's also great to know that everyone that work/volunteer in this place are coming from different backgrounds, ethnicities, ages. Thus we got to share stories, interest, experiences with one another.
While volunteering here, I also have been trying to spread the news to people that need extra food for their groceries or anybody that need assistance getting their basic need fulfilled to come visit The Salvation Army. This place have so many other resources that people can take advantage of and use for their needs. I don't want people to feel hopeless and helpless, I want to make sure that people know that there is hope and there are people out there (such as us the salvation army) who are willing to help! Which is also the reason why the place called Washington County Hope Center, which to give hope to people and share "pathway of hope".

Future Plans The plan in the future is to build a food "grocery store" layout so then people can come and grab what they need. They are also planning on expanding the service not just food pantry but aid to family service such as clothing, diaper, baby wipes, toys, etc.
The salvation Army also host events occasionally especially during holiday time. |

Doing the most good with The Salvation Army
Reflection..
When I started doing this volunteer, I realized that food insecurity is happening everywhere even within the community. Honestly, I'm glad that there are non-profit organizations like Oregon Food Bank and The Salvation Army that help increase the free food resources to people who need it. I learned to be more grateful that I have the privilege to eat what I want. I also grateful to be part of this organization to help people and spread kindness to people through food pantry. I have learned many things about the community and the people that worked there, I think it's very inspiring that they are able to dedicate their life working in a social service. I understand that social service job could get really tough and stressful which is why I learned that it is important to know when to take break. This volunteer activity also great to expand my social life so that I get to socialize with other people outside work and home. I got to connect with my community more than before.
