PIL Youth basketball
Hi I am Coach Grace, my community partner is PIL the Portland Interscholastic League. I am passionate about the benefits of organized sports for young girls. This 2022-2023 school year I was the head coach of Grant High School's girls 8th grade youth basketball team in Portland, OR. I believe youth sports has the power to instill life-long social and leadership skills, a confident mind-body connection, and a healthy relationship with physical and mental health.
“we start with the skill of relationship building, the story of self. Then we develop the skill of motivation or the story of us. Third, the skill of strategizing, the story of now. and forth, the skill of action.” (Ganz, Why Stories Matter)
Grant Grey 8th grade girls won their PIL league with a record of 13-1. The team qualified for the Oregon State Girls Basketball Championships in Central Oregon March 3-5 where they competed against the best 8th grade youth basketball teams in the state.
