Why I Volunteer
Hello everyone, my name is Micaela, and I am a volunteer for Northwest Childrens Outreach. I love being a volunteer for this organization because I have the opportunity to help provide clothes, books, toys, school supplies and more, to children in need in my community. When I volunteer, I become a child's personal shopper and I am tasked with putting together a bag of clothes, books, toys, and hygiene products, that I think the child will enjoy and get great use out of for the season. I love how personal it feels to create a bag for a child in my community, and it is fun to volunteer with friends and help fulfill orders together. I strongly believe that every child deserves to have access to resources they need in order to be successful inside and outside of the classroom.

Ideas of what to donate.
When volunteering it is easy to notice what items are in high demand. For example, I quickly realized that there was not a big selection of books for the older elementary school students. I decided to go through my own book collection and take a trip to my local Barns and Noble to find more age-appropriate books to donate. I was able to collect seventeen books with the help of friends and family!
