Community Support through birth work & post-partum care
Becoming a parent is one of the most profound and beautiful experiences in a humans life. There is so much that is new, it is inevitable that new parents will need a strong support system outside of their partners and family. Humans have been tribal beings for so long before we entered into this new individualistic way of living, and becoming a parent can be a strong reminder of how challenging life can be without the web of community support. Receiving care through a professional birth worker such as a doula can be deeply nourishing to new parents in their most vulnerable time.
Doula: a person trained to provide advice, information, emotional support, and physical comfort to a mother before, during, and just after childbirth.
Doula is someone that holds space for life's transitions. From birth to death, life has many thresholds that we as humans walk through. Childbirth is a moment in a families life where everything changes, bodies, minds, the way life is lived all become something different once a baby is born. A doula is someone who can ease the transition into parenthood, whether a birth is in the comfort of someones own home, a hospital, or a birth center doula's are supportive before, during, and after doula's are an ally in the transition from birth to postpartum times.
