YMA Historical Project
About Me
I'm Isaac, a four year camp counselor, looking forward to my eighth year total at camp. I'm a theatre major and business minor at Portland State University in my senior year. In my free time you can find me playing board games, doing theatre, or trying to pass the time as I wait for another year of camp. |
What camp, you ask?
Young Musicians & Artists (YMA) is many things, and a camp is only one of them. It is an intensive, an atmosphere, and most importantly, an experience. I use broad terms like that because such an experience cannot be described, only felt. As terrifying as my first time to be away from home for two weeks with no contact to the outside world was, it has since changed my life and I will go as long as I can.
My work with them for this project was converting and uploading older media from the camp in the form of cassette tapes, CDs, photo albums, and zines to a Google Drive where the executive director can access them and use them to market the camp, share with alumni, and have more accessibly if campers return one day wondering what ever happened to that old song they wrote back at camp. These pictures to the left are eight of the roughly seventy photos saved from YMA 1977. They have all been scanned and uploaded to the drive.
