The Museum
|
The Rice Museum's collection was started by Richard and Helen Rice; Richard worked in the logging industry, and he and his wife Helen were avid "rock hounds" as contemporaries called them. They built a house specially using local woods for them and their three daughters that included a large basement to house their growing rock collection. After Richard and Helen's deaths in 1997, their daughters donated the house and rocks so they could be made into a museum.
