eco-systems sustainable exhibits
About me
My name is April Meads and I am a senior Communication major at Portland State University. For my capstone project, I volunteered with Eco-Systems Sustainable Exhibits located in Portland, Oregon. I struggled to find a community partner to work with for this project, and resulted using the "it's all about who you know" method and reached out to my uncle at Eco-Systems. I have spent this fall volunteering with him and his colleagues, helping with tasks such as market research, filing, inventory and putting together displays. Although I used connections to land this volunteer opportunity, I still made this a learning experience and gained knowledge and skills that I can carry on with me wherever I go next.
take-awaysDuring this experience, I learned the importance of teamwork, communication, organization and problem-solving. I learned skills that are going to be applicable to any job that I have in the future and will help me be a successful leader in the workplace.
